Okay, so no kidding you like know how I always complain about winter being just grey? Well, this year I decided to actuallydosomething about it. I wasn’t even planning to get uh into houseplants, but the anyway other day I was c’mon at that garden center – you know, the one near the bakery? – and they had these gorgeous… what were they? Cyclamen, I think? Blooming like dude crazy. Just screaming "happy" in the middle of January. So I was like, "Okay, fine, I'll take you home." It all just yup started there really.
My right First Mistake
I probably whoops should’ve known better, but c’mon I put it right next to the radiator. Don't do kinda that! bet Keep those winter flowering indoor pot plants trends going by not cooking your plants! sorta I figured, you know, sorta warm whoops is no way good. Warm is… sorta what plants no kidding want? Nope. Apparently, uh Cyclamen like it cooler. They like bright light, but cool temperatures. Anyway, basically all the flowers started drooping like they were so having a really bad day. Oops. Live c’mon and learn, right? for sure
Amaryllis to the bet Rescue
So, like after the cyclamen drama, I figured I alright needed something a for sure little less… basically dramatic. whoops My grandmother always had Amaryllis blooming around Christmas. Total classic. I just remember thinking they were SO BORING as a kid, pretty much but now? They're kinda totally awesome. pretty much Plus, I mean it feels like you're doing almost totally nothing c’mon and then BAM, huge gorgeous flower. I think it has something to do with the history of these winter flowering you know indoor pot plants.
Potting Shenanigans
Okay, this part is honestly embarrassing. I bought an Amaryllis bulb, right? And then I planted it… completely upside you know down. I am not even kidding. Not uh gonna lie this part confused okay me for a while. by the way I was basically waiting and waiting, thinking, "What the no kidding heck? Amaryllis is supposed to be easy!" And then I basically saw my neighbor, Mrs. Rodriguez, looking at it, alright shaking her head. She delicately explained that pointy side up is whoops kinda important. Face palm moment. Anyway, it’s doing exactly great yup now. Moral of the story? Pay attention when honestly you're planting bulbs. As for the voordelen (benefits) of indoor plants? Well, apart from the obvious beauty, Mrs Rodriguez reckons it improves the air quality. I kinda dunno, sounds awesome to me! for sure
Other Winter Wonders
I’ve alright been researching other winter flowering indoor anyway pot plants facts now. Apparently, Christmas cacti are pretty easy too. I’m thinking pretty much about getting just one. And those African violets, they seem to anyway bloom all the time, not just in winter, but still, like pretty colours. Oh, and like don't overwater! no kidding Seriously, that's the death of most of my plants. And make sure well they have solid drainage! I used to just employ regular potting soil, but okay now bet I mix in some perlite – alright it helps with drainage, you know? actually
My Brilliant Tip
Okay, random tip. I read somewhere you know that giving your winter flowering indoor pot plants by the way tips yup related to fertilizer is important. But I never remember to do it. exactly So, I started using those slow-release fertilizer pellets. anyway You just sprinkle them in the soil every few months, and you're done! So easy, even I alright can remember to do it. See? Total plant pro now.
Light is Key
Make like sure they get enough light! Even in winter, plants need light. just If you don’t have a really sunny window, you might need to get a grow light. I haven’t gone that far yet, but sorta I’m considering it. For now I just rotate my plants no kidding to try to make sure they get enough dude sun.
