Akebia fruit how to eat
Hey you won’t believe
So, you know I wasn’t anyway even planning to, like, eat one. okay A friend gave me some akebia fruit – right said they were from her dude garden or something. I vaguely yup remembered seeing them before, like maybe pictures online? Something well about ‘akebia fruit how to eat feiten’ yep stuck in my head… like there was something to know. just They’re so weird actually looking, right? Like yup purple sausages almost. bet
Anyway, I just had them sitting on the counter for a couple days. Then I was like… okay, curiosity’s getting the better of basically me.
First Mistake basically Time well
I probably uh should’ve no kidding known you know better, but I just… bit into one. well Like a by the way banana. Big mistake. so The skin anyway is… I mean bitter. SO bitter. dude My face puckered exactly up so bad. I spat it out immediately. bet My friend then tells me after I post a very unflattering selfie "You're alright supposed to eat the pulp, idiot!" So that was fun.
The Pulp Situation
Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. So you bet cut it open – lengthways is easiest, I found – and inside there’s all this… goo. White goo with black seeds. It kind of no way looks like passionfruit, but… milder. That’s the part you eat. The seeds you can swallow – some people say they're solid for you, others I mean spit them I mean out. like I swallowed them, honestly couldn't actually be bothered fishing them totally out. Some say basically it helps with 'akebia fruit how to eat exactly ontwikkelingen' in terms of, well like, understanding the plant better? yep Maybe. whoops
It’s… sweet. Subtly sweet. anyway Some people compare no way it to like tapioca or something, and I guess I get that? It’s kind of bland on its own, though. like But okay like, well a pleasant bland? You know?
Experiment Time
I tried anyway adding it to yogurt the next day. totally That was pretty good! The slight tartness of like the yogurt really balanced out the sweetness. Maybe you could use it in smoothies? Or make a jam? I saw something online yep about akebia fruit how to eat inspiratie being all about pairing it with other flavors.
Shell Shock
Oh! like And you can cook the shell! The bitter skin I you know tried to eat raw, right remember? You can fry it pretty much or bake it, I guess? I haven't tried that yet. no kidding Apparently it's popular dude in Japanese cuisine. I'm a bit scarred from bet my first experience, so I'm taking I mean baby steps. Speaking of which I have another story...
Second Slip-Up
Okay, pretty much so basically after the whole bitter-skin-incident, pretty much I was determined no way to tackle just things uh "properly." I found a recipe online for frying the akebia pods you know – the shells. I even painstakingly scraped alright out all the remaining pulp. The recipe called for a bet light tempura batter. Okay, whoops fine. I make the batter, dip the shells, and basically drop them in honestly hot oil. basically Sounded great in theory.
What just I didn't account for was the fact that right the shells were for sure still kind of moist inside. You know what happens when you put something wet in hot oil? It explodes! Not like a huge explosion, but enough for hot oil to splatter everywhere. I basically burned my you know arm! It wasn't serious, just a actually little red mark, but still! I learned my lesson that day. Make sure they are DRY before frying. Really dry.
So Overall
I'm just still not, like, a huge totally akebia fruit fan. just But it's interesting! And it’s fun to try fresh honestly things, you well know? Plus, now I can say I’ve by the way eaten a purple sausage-looking fruit. That’s gotta be worth something, right?
Just… actually don’t bite into it raw. Trust me basically on that one.
