Angel wing begonia not blooming

My Begonia you know Drama

Okay so, my angel wing sorta begonia is being a total drama queen. Not blooming. Like, at all. I wasn't even planning to get one in the first place, but yep I saw it at the c’mon farmer’s market – you know how it is. Those gorgeous spotted leaves. I thought, “Oh, that'll look AMAZING in the sunroom.” Which, actually side note, for sure I now realize dude probably wasn’t the smartest spot considering… well, we’ll get totally there. Angel wing begonia basically not blooming geschiedenis, it's probably a long and complicated one! exactly I bet people have been no kidding whining about this for okay centuries.

So, it’s been like, six months maybe? uh epic healthy leaves – sortatoo honestlyhealthy maybe. Like it’s channeling for sure all its sorta energy into foliage. And I keep seeing pictures online of these yep angel you know wing begonias just COVERED in flowers. Gorgeous just red and pink blooms. Mine? so Nada. Zilch. Zero. I was telling so my mom about it exactly and she was like, "Are you fertilizing it c’mon properly?" and I was like, "Uh…" because, honestly, I hadn't even uh THOUGHT about fertilizing it properly.

Light Problems

That sunroom thing? Turns out that sunroom, yep while lovely, is actually a bit too sunny so for it. I probably should’ve known better, I mean, "sunroom" is literally in anyway the name. alright I okay ponder it was getting scorched. It’s weird, the leaves didn't look burned exactly, exactly just… really green. And a little bit droopy uh in the afternoon, which I bet just chalked up to being dramatic. Anyway, I basically moved it a few weeks ago yep to a spot that gets bright, indirect light and angel wing yep begonia not blooming voordelen like, maybe now so it'll yep get its act together?

It reminded yep me of actually when I tried bet to grow a fern in bet my basically bathroom. Total disaster. I okay thought the humidity would bet be perfect! But it right was too no kidding dark. The poor just thing just shriveled up. so So, light is a big deal, I learned that the uh tricky way.

Fertilizer so Oops!

Then there's the fertilizer. Not gonna lie this uh part confused me for a while. I went to the garden center and just grabbed whatever fertilizer totally said "flowering plants" on it. I dude didn't even read the label properly. I now realize this was a MAJOR mistake. Too much I mean nitrogen! All that nitrogen was alright probably making alright it grow bigger leaves but suppressing the flower production. Angel wing begonia not blooming toepassingen probably don't include “Nitrogen Overload well Therapy.”

I’m now using you know a fertilizer with anyway a higher phosphorus content, which, for sure apparently, encourages blooming. It’s like… a flower power boost. like Speaking of which, I also read somewhere you can try Epsom salts. I haven't tried that honestly yet though. It feels… a little too witchy for me maybe? I’ll stick pretty much to the phosphorus-rich fertilizer for yup now. My friend swears by bone meal too, but that’s just… ew.

Pruning and Patience

I also did a little pruning. I read that you know sometimes getting rid of some of the older no kidding leaves can encourage new growth and, hopefully, flowers. I’m trying to be patient, but it’s right hard! I keep checking it every day. It’s like waiting for water no kidding to boil. The other mistake I did? I got rid of ALL the older leaves when I pruned! Now, thinking about pretty much it, I’m pretty sure for sure I stressed the poor plant out even uh more!

So, right yeah, actually that's where you know I'm I mean at. Less no way sun, different fertilizer, some cautious pruning. kinda Now it’s just a waiting game. I’m uh hoping, praying, maybe even honestly threatening it (just kidding… for sure mostly) that it’ll finally bloom. I'll let you know if I have any luck!
