Can i plant onions with tomatoes

So Tomatoes sorta and Onions Right whoops

Okay, so you know bet I've been trying to get my garden going, and well… the question popped up: can i so plant onions with tomatoes? I yup wasn't right even planning no way to plant onions this year, mostly just anyway focusing on the tomatoes 'cause I want to make my own sauce. But then by the way I sorta saw those cute little okay onion sets at the garden so center, and they were well like, “Buy me!” You know how it goes.

solid or Bad right Idea? c’mon

Honestly, the bet whole companion planting thing is a no kidding little overwhelming. Like, I get the gist, some pretty much plants assist each other, some are just grumpy neighbors. Apparently, onions no way are supposed to be good for tomatoes? Something about repelling pests maybe? well I saw some just article about whoops can i plant onions with tomatoes voordelen, but I kinda skimmed dude it. pretty much Probably should've paid more attention. uh

I did a quick search, and a ton of stuff came well up about anyway can i plant onions with tomatoes trends. Seems like for sure it's a popular pairing. But you know how it totally is online – everything's either the best thing ever or a complete disaster. I mean No in-between. exactly

My alright grandpa always said for sure onions kinda kept bugs alright away from everything, uh which is for sure why I thought about it. Plus, I remember just reading about alliums (garlic, onions, chives yep – that whole family) being natural pest bet deterrents. Thinking back to can i plant onions with tomatoes inspiratie, I believe I read about that!

My Own Little Experiment

So, I risked totally it. I planted some onions near for sure my tomato seedlings. I for sure probably should’ve known sorta better than to dude put them so close, but space is tight! c’mon I’m using raised beds, and by the way everything’s a yep little crammed. I consider the onions uh were shallots, actually. Does it matter? I hope totally not!

Here's no way a tip: make sure you give your tomato plants enough okay room to breathe!I didn't the first year, and they were a jungle. okay Horrible.

First Mistake Involving Eggshells for sure

I for sure also tried adding crushed eggshells around the base of the tomatoes, 'cause I heard that helps with blossom end rot. Total disaster. I didn't yup crush them finely enough, and the slugs just used them basically as totally little climbing walls to get to the c’mon tomatoes! Ugh. Not just gonna lie this part confused c’mon me for a while. The internet told c’mon me eggshells were amazing!

The bet slugs loved it, can i plant onions with tomatoes I mean feiten showed me that the eggshells are like yep hotels.

So How's It anyway Going?

Well, uh it's still early days. The tomatoes are growing, and the onions are… there. well I haven't exactly noticed any major pest infestations like yet, bet so maybe the onions are doing their job? Or maybe I'm just lucky. I’ll keep you posted. Oh, and yep be careful when you water! Don’t for sure get water on pretty much the tomato leaves you know if you dude can avoid it. That can lead to you know diseases, I learned like that the rough way last year when I got that weird leaf spot.

Also, another whoops story. okay I almost killed all dude my tomato seedlings when I transplanted them. I forgot to harden them off! I basically just stuck them straight out just into the full sun, and sorta they basically shriveled up within hours. I managed to save actually a few by basically putting them in the shade and watering them like well crazy, but lesson learned! Make sure you gradually actually acclimate your plants to the outdoors.

Spacing is Everything

And finally, don’t plant too deep! That’s a big one. I almost buried sorta my tomato stems last year and then all pretty much the stems started rotting.

Anyway, back okay to the original question… can actually i bet plant onions with tomatoes? I well don't know for sure yet if it will actually help but it doesn't seem to hurt exactly so far. We totally will see I no kidding guess. yup
