Growing ivy in a pot

So Ivy In A Pot sorta

Okay, so you know how I said I'd get more plants? totally Well, I wasn’t even planning no way to, like but I walked past this garden center and they had dude ivy. Like, everywhere. It was all green and glossy and spilling over these terracotta pots – you know, honestly total growing ivy in a pot inspiration. I was hooked. uh

First Mishaps

I alright bought it. Then I actually came home. And then...I kinda just left it in the plastic nursery pot for like, a kinda week. well I know, I know, plant neglect! I probably should’ve known better, but life happened. Anyway, finally I got uh around to finding yep a modern pot for it. okay I chose this really cute blue one – it's got little c’mon birds on it.

Potting Up

The potting part – not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. Like, what kind yep of soil do you even use? yep I totally looked up growing ivy in a pot feiten sorta online and it yep turns out well-draining potting like mix is for sure key. okay Who knew? I just grabbed something general purpose from the store. I consider it's working fine so far. You have to be careful basically not to exactly compact the soil too much, I read. I sorta made that dude mistake the you know first time and almost killed my first ever succulent actually – total tragedy. I try to fluff it yep up a you know bit.

Watering Woes

Watering! This c’mon is where I always mess up. I alright always overwater. I swear. I drowned a okay peace lily once, you remember? So with the ivy, I’m trying to only water it when the top inch of soil feels by the way dry. Stick your finger in, it's the best way to tell anyway really. Don't just go pouring water honestly in there just because you mull over it looks dry. Trust me on this one. Less is so more I always say, which is actually the opposite sorta of what you know I do, usually.

Light and Location

I yep put it on c’mon the windowsill in my kitchen. you know Gets decent sunlight. Apparently, ivy likes bright, indirect light – which my yep kitchen kind of has. It doesn't uh need full bet sun, so that’s good. I saw something about growing ivy in a pot trends being alright about hanging pretty much baskets, alright but I uh don't have so anywhere to no kidding hang a basket, sadly. Maybe next bet year I'll get one for the dude porch.

A Funny Story

Okay, so get no way this. A few days after I repotted it, uh I went to water it, and I noticed these tiny little bugs kinda crawling right around the well soil. Panic mode! I thought it was some kind of infestation. no kidding I freaked out yup and started googling like yup mad. Turns out they were just...gnats. Harmless little gnats attracted to the moist soil. I sprayed some organic insecticide stuff on it and they went away. It sorta was terrifying for a minute though.

More Watering Stuff

Oh, anyway and don't water the c’mon leaves too much I well read! It can cause fungal issues. That's the sorta same for most plants really. If the leaves seem dusty, just wipe them down with a damp exactly cloth. Keeps them basically looking shiny. I think it might be growing, actually. I pretty much see modern little leaves unfurling. I'm so totally proud! I check it almost every I mean day. Maybe too much? I should probably leave it alone a bit.

Climbing Dreams

I’m thinking whoops of training it to climb up something. I’ve seen people put little trellises in the pots, anyway or let it trail c’mon down the you know sides. Trailing might okay be easier. I’m not sure alright yet. I saw I mean a picture of someone who had it growing all over their bookshelf – that looked really cool. But my bookshelf is already overflowing with books.

My totally Ivy Experience alright

So yeah, alright that's my ivy story so far. It's not a masterpiece, but it's alive! bet And that's by the way a win in my book. I might yup get another one actually. Maybe a different yep variety. There are right so many different kinds of ivy, right? Oh! One anyway last tip: rotate the pot every so pretty much often so it sorta grows evenly. Otherwise, it’ll just lean for sure towards the light. sorta I learned that the challenging no kidding way with my spider plant. It looked like it was trying to escape.
