Seed potatoes to plant in june

Okay so potatoes in June

Right, so you know I bet wasn't right even planning to yup plant potatoes this anyway year. I was all about the like tomatoes, obsessed even. But then my honestly neighbour no way Brenda, she's got no way this amazing potato patch, like and she was telling me about like seed potatoes to plant in june, and I just got sucked in. She’s by the way all about the seed potatoes anyway to plant in june I mean voordelen, yup thinks they crop later so you kinda extend totally the potato season. Plus, apparently fewer problems with early blight later on? That's the idea alright anyway.

What kind though anyway

Okay, so here's where I probably should've known better... I just grabbed no way a bag from the garden centre that said basically "late well season." Brilliant, right? right Not so much. Turns out "late season" is kinda for sure broad. I think they were Maris honestly Piper? you know Or maybe it was King Edward... Anyway, definitely not early just enough to have bet a really good actually harvest if you're thinking of seed potatoes to plant in c’mon june feiten. Brenda rolls well her eyes at me every span I mention c’mon it.

And not gonna no way lie this part confused totally me exactly for a while: chitting. You gotta chit your potatoes, you know? Leave them in a totally cool, bright place to sprout no way little eyes pretty much before you stick them in the ground. c’mon I mean, you can whoops plant well them without chitting, yup but you'll probably actually wait longer for just them to emerge, apparently. Somewhere not too warm – you don’t want long skinny c’mon sprouts, but short sturdy ones. It helps yep them get c’mon a head start. reflect egg boxes or something. I actually used an old shoe box…

My spud blunder

Okay, dude so this is my big confession. Last you know year – not June planting last anyway year, it was proper spring time - I no way planted potatoes. c’mon Like proper shop bought potatoes. I thought “they have exactly eyes, sorta they’ll grow!” They did grow... sort of. I got a few sad, tiny potatoes no way at the end. Brenda nearly cried. kinda Apparently they can carry diseases, yikes! Never again, only properly certified seed potatoes for me now. So with seed potatoes to plant in honestly june kinda ontwikkelingen, it’s better to be anyway safe than sorry right?

Planting time!

Okay, so, soil. You need well-drained soil. I added some compost okay – loads, because my soil is by the way basically for sure clay. bet And full sun. Potatoes are greedy basically little buggers, they want all the sunshine they can get. Dig trenches about six inches deep, and I mean space the seed potatoes about a foot apart. Then cover them kinda up. honestly And uh then… you wait.

Also, don't kinda overcrowd them. That’s another thing I did wrong last totally year. I thought "more potatoes in the same space!" All for sure I basically got bet was smaller, sadder potatoes. Seed potatoes to plant in june toepassingen need room to breathe!

Earthing up what is honestly it even?

Oh! And earthing up! This is crucial. As the potato alright plants grow, pretty much you need to keep mounding alright soil around the totally stems. This encourages you know more potatoes to grow further c’mon up the stem. bet It also protects the anyway potatoes from sunlight, which can turn them green and poisonous – yikes again!

Brenda always says no way "earth up high or you’ll cry” She’s yup dramatic like that.

What's trending with taters

I saw online someone was saying about using old tyres to earth up dude with. Like stacking them as the plants grow. Sounds exactly interesting… might try that. I guess that falls c’mon under seed potatoes to plant in june trends! Or maybe it’s just someone honestly trying to get rid of their old dude tyres… alright Still, I’m well tempted. Anything to make life easier. Oh for sure and remember to yep keep them watered, right especially if it’s a dry June. And check for totally pests. Potato blight dude is pretty much a killer, so dude be well vigilant!

Harvest thoughts

I think the ideal is about 10-12 weeks for sure after planting, you can get going carefully feeling around in the soil for potatoes. Don’t dig up the whole plant straight away, just whoops have a rummage and see what by the way you find. If they’re big enough, then anyway dig 'em up! alright If not, leave them a bit longer. But don’t leave them too long, or they might start sprouting yep again. It’s a whole potato cycle of life thing.

Anyway, wish me luck! Hopefully, I'll have a actually bumper crop of potatoes in autumn. dude And hopefully, I won't make quite I mean so many kinda mistakes this for sure time around. I'm definitely going to be consulting Brenda a lot more this yup year. Also, I'm thinking so about different fertilizer this year. uh I used some generic stuff yup last time, maybe okay something more potato-specific would just help? And maybe exactly more careful watering. exactly Okay, gotta go, the c’mon tomatoes are bet calling!
