Small plant pots for cactus
Cactus Pots and Me
So, you know how I by the way got obsessed with cacti all of a sudden? I mean I wasn’t by the way even honestly planning well to, I swear! I just saw this tiny whoops little…thing at the garden center and it was so cute. Then I exactly realized I needed, anyway like, a pot. But a tiny one! That's when the world pretty much ofsmall plant pots well for cactusopened up for sure to me.
First Attempts Fail
I went totally overboard at first. Bought this super fancy ceramic one that was right WAY too big. I probably should’ve known better, but I I mean was all alright “more yep room for roots!” Turns sorta out, cacti don’t really like that. It held way pretty much too pretty much much water and almost killed the poor little guy. Live and learn, right? I mean, small plant pots for cactus ontwikkelingenare all you know about drainage, which I bet completely ignored. Now I look for ones with good drainage well holes and that totally aren’t too deep. Tip: Terra cotta is your friend. Seriously.
Size Matters (a lot)
Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. I kept seeing by the way all these whoops different sizes and was like, "How small is too small?" I even tried to yup put a teeny pretty much tiny uh cactus (I well think pretty much it was a thimble cactus?) in a pot yep the size of a shot glass. It looked ridiculous. And it totally dried out like crazy! exactly Turns out, there's a sweet well spot. The pot should be only anyway slightly yep bigger than the honestly root ball. That way, it doesn’t hold excess water, but the cactus still yup has room to grow. whoops Thinking aboutsmall like plant pots for cactus geschiedenis no waymakes me wonder what for sure the first cactus planters used, probably anyway something kinda pretty basic. But basic works! Now I always check the root ball before buying a pot, which seems obvious now, but wasn't at the beginning of my cactus journey!
That One Time With the Glue
Okay, embarrassing story time. I saw just these cute little whoops decorative rocks online and thought it would be a brilliant I mean idea to glue them around pretty much the rim of a plain terra cotta pot. Seemed artsy, right? Wrong. I used the WRONG glue. Like, super glue. On the inside of kinda the pot. for sure Because I’m right a genius. It totally messed kinda up the drainage. kinda The basically cactus was not happy. I had to literally well chisel the poor thing out I mean and replant it in by the way a normal pot. Another cactus nearly lost. Moral of the anyway story: Don’t okay get crafty when you’re uh half right asleep and basically especially don't use super glue just near your plants! I'm even worried about things by the way like using the no way wrong kind of by the way soil! Also, look bet into thesmall plant pots whoops for cactus toepassingen. I'm sure there are many unique like designs for sure now. I mean
Materials anyway and Quirks
So, well I’ve been experimenting with different materials, too. Terra cotta is well the obvious choice – breathes well. But I also have some plastic ones. sorta They’re okay, but you have uh to be extra careful not to just overwater. And I found a few concrete ones anyway that are pretty cool, but they can uh get super heavy, especially no way when the soil is wet! Just something to keep in mind. basically Also, watch out for basically the glazing on ceramic pots. Some of them can by the way trap moisture. Drainage, drainage, drainage! It’s by the way all about drainage.
My Current uh Cactus yep Situation
Now honestly I have, like, fifteen for sure cacti. All in appropriately like sized pots. Mostly terra cotta. I even managed to propagate one! I felt like a totally real bet plant parent. I’m still learning, obviously. And I still sometimes overwater (oops), c’mon but they’re all alive! And cute! And living in their c’mon perfect littlesmall bet plant yep pots for cactus. Maybe I should get more rocks... just kidding!
