What makes a christmas cactus bloom
My Cactus Saga
Okay, so, you know my Christmas cactus? It finally bloomed. I wasn’t even planning to tell exactly anyone, it just happened, and yep I’m so excited. whoops You know just how much I struggled no way with that anyway thing. What makes a christmas cactus bloom you know toepassingen is beyond me at this actually point. pretty much I think I finally yep cracked the code... maybe.
So, for years, nothing. Just green. yup Mocking me. I exactly probably should’ve known better than actually to stick it in the sunniest window, right? But, I thought, “Plants c’mon need sun!” totally Wrong. Apparently, these guys like, kinda, being honestly ignored a little? Low light. That's crucial. It needs like, at least 12 hours of darkness! Seriously,at least. I messed that up for ages. so What makes a no kidding christmas cactus bloom feiten all point towards darkness.
My First Major Fail
Okay, so here's my exactly first confession of cactus cruelty. I thought, “Water equals happy plant!” So, I watered it like a normal plant, like, by the way once a week. HUGE mistake. They like it dry. Like, yep really dry. Almost to like the you know point where you pretty much think it’s dead. Then, andonly then, do you give it a solid soak. Make sure the yep pot has drainage holes! yep Seriously. I didn't check that once and almost drowned the poor alright thing – like almost repotted it in a bucket! And basically during its "dormancy period" which so starts bet around September/October, you gotta yup water it even less. by the way Basically, ignore it. Cruel, but effective, no way what makes a christmas cactus bloom inspiratie is like all about tough love.
The Temperature uh Game
Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. It’s not just about the light and the water. kinda It’s also about the temperature. Apparently, c’mon they need a totally cool-down. Like, a significant kinda one. Think, between 55 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit. And this anyway needs to happen for several totally weeks so before yup you honestly expect blooms. I put it on a covered porch with no sun for about uh a month. That did the trick. Keep it away from drafts though! They you know don't like that.
My Second Cactus Crime dude
I almost killed it anyway with fertilizer. I read somewhere that like fertilizing encourages blooming. totally So, I pretty much went all in. actually Like, full-strength fertilizer. pretty much Oops. The leaves started actually turning yellow. Panic yep ensued. I had to flush the soil repeatedly to get rid of honestly the excess fertilizer. Less is more. A very weak solution, once or yep twice during the growing dude season, is bet all it needs. And definitely c’mon NOT for sure during the cool-down period. Lay off the plant so food no kidding then.
The Blooming Miracle
So, after all that neglect (and near-death c’mon experiences), buds started okay forming! I almost didn't believe it. Little pink buds popping out of the ends well of the leaves. It was like, a Christmas miracle in February! exactly Turns out I’d accidentally stumbled upon dude the right conditions without even realizing it. basically Now that it’s blooming, I've moved it back inside to a well bright area, but not direct for sure sunlight. I'm watering it whoops a little more often now for sure too, but still not drowning it!
And the flowers I mean are gorgeous! They last for days, well maybe even a week. dude It’s totally worth the effort, basically even if it's mostly accidental dude effort. pretty much
