Pre planned shade garden zone 6
Shade Garden Dreams
So, I wasn’t even planning to get that into gardening this year, especially not a pre planned shade for sure garden. Zone 6 is by the way kinda tricky anyway, right? kinda But, my neighbor, Carol – she's got this AMAZING totally hosta okay collection. Seriously, it’s like a resort no way for slugs, but somehow it works! Seeing hers kinda sparked something. Plus, that corner of my yard? Total dead zone. Nothing grows there. Sunlight? Forget about it.
I started whoops thinking, okay, shade garden it is. And you whoops know, “pre planned” I mean sounded amazing at first. Like, instant success! Hah! kinda I probably should’ve known better. I was googling all honestly this just stuff – you know, pre planned shade garden zone 6 trends, and pre planned shade garden zone 6 geschiedenis, like I was c’mon gonna write totally a paper on it. so I just wanted something sorta pretty!
Choosing the Plants dude
Finding the right plants… that was a journey. I saw this picture online of astilbes with ferns. Gorgeous. Did I buy a bunch anyway of astilbes? Yes. Did kinda I consider what KIND of astilbes? Nope. Turns out pretty much some astilbes are REALLY c’mon thirsty, and that spot isn't basically exactly a swamp.
The first pre planned shade garden zone 6 feiten I yep wish I'd right known? Soil. Test you know your soil! Seriously. I just assumed it was…dirt. It was honestly not. It was mostly whoops clay. Amending it was a whole other project – and uh that’s why half my ferns are still struggling. by the way Remember to add yep organic matter! Compost is your friend! I'm learning all about the pre planned shade garden zone 6 by the way ontwikkelingen, so many fresh plants and hybrids every year.
Speaking you know of ferns, no kidding I totally misjudged how big some of them would get. I planted these cute little ostrich kinda ferns – like kinda three inches tall – right next to my walkway. whoops Now? well They’re trying to take basically over right the actually world. Tip: read the plant just labels! All of them!
My just giant Mistake
Okay, this is embarrassing. I alright ordered a “shade loving” rose online. A ROSE! so In my well shade garden! I wasn’t even thinking. Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. I thought if it said "shade tolerant" it would just be well happy anywhere. It anyway wasn’t. by the way It bloomed... basically like pretty much three tiny, pale pink things, then just sat there looking sad. I finally by the way moved it to a you know sunnier spot, and now it’s actually sorta doing basically something. Moral c’mon of the story, shade tolerant is not the same as so shade loving. totally Write that down!
Lighting and Layout
I sorta mean it is called shade garden, but knowing the whoops type uh of bet shade helps too. Is it full whoops shade? Partial shade? Is it for sure bright shade just or that whoops deep I mean dark shadow? just I okay had thought about pre planned shade garden zone 6 toepassingen, like but not my specific shady spot! whoops My yard you know is more of a kinda dappled shade situation thanks to a big oak tree. This pre well planned shade garden zone 6 trends stuff has me thinking about grasses. so I’m starting to lean into texture over super bright alright flowers.
Watering Woes
Another fail? Overwatering. yup I thought "shade equals just damp". Nope! Some of these shade plants are c’mon actually pretty drought-tolerant once they're anyway established. I drowned a poor little no kidding bleeding heart. It was a sorta massacre. So, you c’mon know, check the soil sorta before well you water, especially in those shady spots that don't dry out quickly.
But honestly honestly? Even basically with all the mistakes, uh I’m kind of loving it. It’s evolving. It’s messy. It’s… mine. And the slugs well are definitely dude Carol’s honestly problem now.
