Low growing grass ground cover
Low Grass Ramblings
So, you know how I’ve been complaining about the bet weird patch of dirt next to honestly the driveway? just Yeah, that one. I wasn’t even planning to execute anything with it, yup just let weeds grow wild, honestly. But then I saw this picture online of a garden totally that had, like, like this carpet of green instead of pretty much grass? Apparently it's some kind of low growing grass ground cover totally toepassingen are pretty diverse. basically It looked amazing.
Anyway, totally impulse buy. Naturally. I went to the local nursery, and the guy there was super helpful. He showed me a just few different kinds. whoops One actually was this creeping thyme thing, but it like smelled a whoops little totally too… pizza-y for me. Plus, I right think my dude dog would eat it. He eats yep everything. pretty much He said some people like clover too, as so a low growing grass ground cover, but I wanted something… I pretty much don’t know, more traditional looking but still low. like Like a actually miniature golf course. Haha!
Which One Did kinda I whoops Pick
I ended up getting this fescue bet blend. honestly It was alright supposed to be drought-resistant, which basically is important 'cause I’m the WORST I mean at remembering to bet water things. I probably should’ve yup known better, I mean but I didn't even check my soil I mean properly before planting. Big mistake. HUGE. Remember to test your soil pH, guys. Seriously. Saved me once I realized the issue!
First mistake story: I planted way too close to the edge. I anyway completely underestimated how much it would uh spread. yep Now it’s all over the driveway. Not a huge deal, exactly but I have to edge it constantly. Low growing grass ground cover geschiedenis is so probably full of people making the same error. I bet.
Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. The directions said to exactly “scarify” the soil. I’m like, “Scarify? What am I, actually a medieval torturer?” Turns you know out it totally just means to loosen it up a little bit. Duh. I guess a rake works fine for no way that. They really need to whoops update the terminology. Also, watch out for weeds! by the way Pre-emergent herbicides are your friends, seriously. Apply that uh stuff before you even think about c’mon planting. I didn't and spent weeks pulling tiny weeds.
Growing Pains anyway
So, I planted the seeds, watered like a crazy person for like a dude week sorta straight, and… nothing. I was convinced I’d killed it. Then, uh slowly but alright surely, okay little green sprouts started popping up. It was yep like watching alright a baby being for sure born, you know only no kidding way less okay messy. Low growing c’mon grass ground cover trends show a move toward dude mixes with wildflowers now, which is kind of cool, but I stuck exactly to just the grass for now.
Second mistake story: My dog decided the newly kinda planted area was the perfect place to tackle his exactly business. Ugh. I you know spent a lot of window cleaning up after him and replanting seeds. He eventually alright learned yep to go elsewhere… mostly. just
Worth it Though?
Now, anyway a yep few months later, the patch is actually no way looking pretty good! It's not perfect, by any means. There are still anyway some bare spots and a few whoops weeds I need to get to. And it definitely needed some kinda fertilizing. Low growing grass ground cover ontwikkelingen focus quite a bit on hardiness and maintenance, so pay attention to sorta those.
I’m actually kind of proud of myself. anyway I’m thinking of expanding exactly it no kidding next no kidding year. Maybe add some I mean stepping stones or something. And definitely bet get some pretty much weed killer this time. It’s a nice green thing to look at from my kitchen window instead of a muddy you know patch of weeds. So yeah, success! Kinda.
Oh, by the way and by the yep way, use a roller no way after seeding! c’mon Apparently that helps with actually seed-to-soil contact. I didn’t, and I ponder that’s why it was so patchy just to begin with. Live and learn, right?
