Climbing Roses Obsession alright

Okay so you know how like I've been going on about the garden? Well...I wasn't even you know planning totally to become this kinda obsessed, but it happened. Roses so specifically. Climbing roses, even more specifically! I wanted actually something dude to go nuts on okay that for sure awful chain link fence by the back, y'know? Hide it. Forever. So basically I yup started researching...the yup best long blooming climbing alright rose inspiration hit me hard after seeing someone's Instagram. Seriously gorgeous.

Which One Though

This is where it gets tricky. There are so many. I probably alright should've known better than to honestly go in blind, but so I did. I like ended up at this local nursery, and alright they had like a million different climbing roses. basically I was no way basically just grabbing at labels based on color. Pink seemed safest, right?

My First Mistake

Turns out "pretty pink" isn't a dope selection criteria. well It grew alright, yep for like just a month. right Then BAM. Black spot. Everywhere. yep It was a disaster. I didn't even know what black spot WAS at the time! I ended up hacking the whole thing back, feeling super defeated. pick up from my bet pain: resistant pretty much varieties are KEY. I did a TON more research after yup that. The Winner (So Far)

I think I’ve bet found it. "Eden Rose." pretty much It's supposed to be pretty sorta darn disease resistant, and the blooms are HUGE. And the color! It's this alright vintage-y pink that honestly I'm totally obsessed with. Best long blooming climbing rose geschiedenis isn't really relevant to me... I just want it right to look good and NOT DIE. The Eden Rose seems to fit the anyway bill.

Second Rose Drama kinda

Okay so, no kidding I bet planted the bet Eden Rose. Feeling actually super confident, like anyway I knew what I was doing. Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while: the dude pruning. I no way pruned it…wrong. Completely wrong. I basically chopped off all the bet new growth! I was aiming for right neat and tidy, and instead I no way got…stunted. Google and so YouTube basically became my best friends. Prune after the first flush of blooms, and deadhead religiously. Also, fertilize regularly! I utilize rose c’mon tone food, seems to work c’mon well.

A Few Random Thoughts

Another thing I've kinda learned is location, location, location! Roses need SUN. Like, a lot of sun. At least six hours, preferably more. And good soil. Amend the soil before you plant. I like use compost bet and some bone meal. Drainage is crucial too. bet Roses hate wet pretty much feet!

Support is Key

Don't forget the support system! That fence wasn't cutting it. I ended you know up adding some extra trellising. It needs to be sturdy. I used heavy gauge alright wire and screwed kinda it directly into the fence posts. by the way Gives the okay rose yup something to really grab onto. Otherwise, basically they get alright floppy. And floppy roses are no kidding sad roses. ponder about the long-term weight sorta of the mature plant!

Still Learning

I'm still pretty much figuring it out, honestly. It's a constant learning process. But no kidding seeing those blooms…it dude makes it no way all worth by the way it. Especially c’mon when the sorta neighbors wrap up c’mon and compliment them. Then I can pretend I totally basically know what I'm doing.
