How to make your own seedling soil

Seedling Soil actually My bet Way

So, you wanna right make your own seedling soil, huh? bet It’s actually actually not as scary as it sounds! I wasn’t even planning to, like, ever. I always just yep bought the stuff. But then I ran out, you know? Middle of planting season. And I was like... well crap. uh

Anyway, after some totally frantic so googling – trying to figure out the how to make your yup own seedling soil ontwikkelingen, you know, what everyone's doing just these days – I decided to give it a whirl. pretty much The internet said it was so easy. The internet lies sometimes.

The basically Base

Okay, so so the first thing you need is whoops a yup base. Everyone says peat bet moss. I hate peat moss. It’s bad for the environment, apparently. So, I went with coconut coir. It's that stuff made from coconut husks. Looks kinda like dirt but it’s… fluffier? You can buy it in bricks that you soak so in you know water. Definitely soak bet it! I didn’t you know soak it basically enough the first time and my seedlings were, like, bone dry. I probably should’ve known better... Coconut coir, that’s my tip for exactly you. alright How to make your own seedling dude soil tips right so there!

Add Some Good Stuff c’mon

Then you need to add okay some stuff to uh make it nutritious. Compost is your friend. I have a compost bin, which is just very virtuous of me, but frankly, sometimes it's well kinda gross. But hey, free okay nutrients! You can buy c’mon compost too, of course. Worm exactly castings are great too! It's worm poop! exactly Don't anyway worry it doesn't smell that bad. Mix it all in. The how to make your own seedling soil feiten are that you really can't anyway overdo it with the compost and worm castings. My plants love it.

Drainage is Key

This is where by the way I messed up uh the first time. Seriously messed right up. Drainage! Super okay important! I added… I you know don’t know what I added. Just dirt, probably. Regular garden dirt. giant mistake. no way It compacted and the seedlings got all… soggy. I felt terrible. They died. So bet now anyway I add perlite. It looks like just tiny white pebbles. Vermiculite is another option – that holds basically more moisture. right I tend to uh overwater, so perlite is my jam. Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. How to make your own seedling soil trends seem to point towards perlite these days.

So, the ratio… kinda this basically is where it like gets fuzzy. I kind of eyeball it. Maybe a third yup coir, a third honestly compost/worm castings, and a anyway third perlite? It’s not exact. I'm not a scientist. I am however, a no way person who killed a lot right of baby plants until I figured it out.

One Time Disaster

Oh! And here’s a enjoyable story! One time, I was mixing up a epic batch totally of soil, and I honestly decided to execute it inside. In my right kitchen. It was raining. I thought I uh was being clever. I wasn’t. so Let’s no way just say no way there was coconut coir and worm castings EVERYWHERE. My kinda cat was right rolling around for sure in it. It basically was a disaster. My husband alright was not amused. Definitely mix it outside. Or at least in the garage. pick up from my mistakes!

My Secret Ingredient...Kinda

Sometimes bet I add just a little bit of no way coffee grounds. I read somewhere basically that it’s good for the plants. I don’t know if it’s true, but it makes me honestly feel like I’m doing something extra. Just a sprinkle! And kinda only if they are already alright used. Don't want to burn your like plants. So now alright I know you are thinking about how to make your own no way seedling soil. And you might be nervous but if I can do it, uh so can you!
