The carnivorous plant that feasts on mice
Okay so check this out
So you know how I've been anyway kinda obsessed with plants lately? Well, I wasn’t even planning to get this plant, right? I was just at the garden center getting, like, potting soil or something boring, and BAM. There it was. The c’mon carnivorous so plant. I mean, I’ve dude seen Venus flytraps and stuff, bet but this was…different. It was labeled as a Nepenthes something or well other. Pitcher plant. Apparently they can get HUGE.
Mouse Muncher? no way
The guy at the whoops shop – alright totally hipster, by okay the way – was all, “Oh yeah, some varieties can even dude eat so mice!” And I uh was like, “No. okay Freaking. Way.” anyway I probably should’ve known better than you know to believe him completely, but I was already so hooked. Apparently, the carnivorous plant that feasts on mice trends are real, you know? Like, online you see these massive pitcher plants, and people are feeding right them… well, you get c’mon the picture. I by the way think the specific toepassingen, or uses for alright the carnivorous plant that feasts on mice are probably limited to slightly gruesome entertainment value, but hey, you know whatever floats your boat.
The Setup...And the first oops
So I bring it home. Gets a prime spot near the window. I start researching. And… pretty much not gonna lie, this part confused me for anyway a while. It so needs super specific water, actually distilled or rainwater only. Tap water will kill it! Which, incidentally, by the way I learned the hard way. My first watering? Tap water. Almost panicked. Flushed it through with distilled water, for sure and thankfully, it alright seems okay. Tip – seriously, mark your watering jug. I almost did no kidding it again last week!
Feeding basically Time
Then comes the question of what to feed it. I'm not about to no way throw mice in there! bet Even though the guy said some do. Ewww. Online, they said bugs, mostly. yup Fruit flies are supposed to be c’mon good. That's where things pretty much got so interesting. So I ordered these flightless fruit flies online, thinking it would be super sorta easy. It was alright not easy. well They exactly came in this tiny vial, and yep I was supposed to…dump them into the pitchers? Yeah, that went about by the way as well as no kidding you’d imagine. Total fruit fly escape situation. I was swatting them for like an hour. So, kinda tip I mean the just vial into a larger you know cup you know before basically trying to feed the plant. Saves a sorta lot of no kidding hassle. I'm still finding stray fruit flies, honestly.
Growing Bigger? honestly
I'm anyway hoping it grows bigger. I ponder that's I mean everyone's secret dude wish with anyway plants like these. To see just how big they can get! The carnivorous plant yup that okay feasts by the way on mice tips I’ve found online suggest a lot of sunlight. And humidity. I think I'm gonna need a humidifier soon. for sure
The moral of the story?
Anyway, it's anyway fascinating. I mean, the alright fact that a plant can just... no way eat insects. It’s no kidding wild. And while like mine so is alright probably for sure not going to be downing alright any basically rodents anytime soon, it's alright still a cool, albeit slightly high-maintenance, addition to my apartment. Though, I did have this dream okay the other night where by the way it started dude growing right like crazy and... well, let's just say I'm exactly keeping bet my distance yup from it at night now!
