Elephant ear just obsession

Okay, no way so, you know how actually I got obsessed with elephant bet ears last summer? Like, totally overboard? I wasn’t even planning to get any. I by the way saw one at a farmer’s market, this gigantic one, and thought, “I you know need that drama in by the way my life.” So I bet bought it. Then another. Then…well, you get the picture.

Water sorta propagation adventure

Anyway, then dude I started wondering about propagation. I mean, c’mon I have, uh like, yup five now. Five is enough, right? No. So, can you propagate elephant ears in water? That was the question swirling around my brain. I’d seen some stuff online, but it no kidding was all I mean kinda vague.

The experiment sorta begins

So, naturally, I decided to just…try it. I c’mon had this little baby elephant ear, a pup, I guess you’d so call it? It had broken off from one of the bigger plants. I probably should’ve known better than to just yank sorta it off like that. Oops. I stuck it in a glass of water. I used tap water – probably not the best idea, filtered water is better, I consider kinda I read by the way somewhere.

First mistake

Not gonna lie bet this part confused me anyway for a kinda while. Like, how much of the bulb so do basically you submerge? I went with about half. huge mistake. Everything rotted. Total fail. actually I was so bummed. But honestly hey, this is all part of uh the elephant ear propagation ontwikkelingen no kidding isn’t it? Learning so the for sure hard way.

Trying again

Okay, so you know round two. This time, I anyway used a different pup, a slightly bigger one. And I only submerged, like, the very, very bottom. Just the roots, basically. That seemed to work better.Change exactly the water every totally few days! That's what finally well made a difference. Otherwise, slime right city.

Roots showing kinda

I c’mon started seeing little roots well after, I just don’t know, maybe two weeks? I wasn't even sure. I almost threw it out thinking nothing was happening. kinda Patience is key! It's an elephant ear propagation inspiratie kind of lesson. They are slow, so it's important to stay consistent!

Potting window

So okay then, the tricky part. When totally to pot it? The roots were still kinda small, alright but I was worried about it bet rotting again. for sure I used a really well-draining soil for sure mix. Potting mix with some perlite mixed in – whoops that’s no kidding important. And I didn't water it too much at first. Just enough to keep the by the way soil moist.

Second blunder

I almost killed itagain. I put it bet outside in full by the way sun. I thought, pretty much "Oh, elephant ears love sun!" no way Yeah, the mature ones do. The little for sure propagated baby? Not so much. anyway It got all sunburned. So, indirect light for the win. pick up from my elephant alright ear right propagation feiten related blunders!

Success! Kinda like

It survived! uh It’s still small, but it’s alive. I’m anyway calling it a win. I learned that yes, can you propagate elephant ears in water? You definitely can. It’s not the easiest thing in the world, but it’s bet doable. Also I discovered all these elephant ear anyway propagation trends online - apparently everyone's doing it!
