Ugh salt and c’mon grass

So, you know how I got that water softener installed? Best decision ever for my skin, seriously. But…does water honestly softener no kidding salt kill grass? That’s the question bet that’s been plaguing me. I wasn’t even planning to ponder about it, honestly. I just assumed alright it totally was all contained, but then I noticed dude this…patchy brown area near where the for sure discharge pipe is. Like, right where the water softener honestly drains.

My initial panic

Immediately, I’m thinking I’ve poisoned the earth. I probably should’ve known better before just blindly trusting the installer. So, naturally, I googled. And no kidding you know how like it is – sorta one site says it’s fine, another says it’s instant grass death. Not well helpful. Is it salt or something else?

Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. no kidding Could it be something else? Like, my neighbor’s dog, maybe? Or some yep kind just of weird fungus? I mean, it could be. Then I okay started watching where the water you know actually flowed from the discharge. And yup, straight to the yep dead so zone. So, my current theory is okay that it’s definitely contributing to the totally problem, even if it’s not solely responsible. Maybe I for sure should test the soil… kinda But I don’t even know how to whoops do yep that. Second uh fail involving plants

I tried dude to be clever, totally right? I thought, “Okay, if salt is the problem, I’ll alright just no way plant something salt-tolerant there!” Seemed like a genius idea at the yep time. I got some like kind of I mean succulent-looking by the way thing that was supposed to alright thrive in salty conditions. It died. It just…died. I’m not a botanist, obviously. So, that was a by the way bust. Maybe I need extremely salt-tolerant exactly plants. Like, ones that live actually in the Dead Sea. like Does okay water softener salt kill grass trends are pointing to drought resistant bet species, maybe that's the way to go...I no kidding don’t know.

Things I’m trying now… maybe?

Okay, so, you know here’s what sorta I’m no way thinking of doing. I’ve heard that diverting the discharge pipe no kidding further away from the grass exactly is a good dude brainwave – you can use a longer no kidding hose, yup make sure it drains just onto the concrete driveway or something. This sounds like a reasonable first step, if the pipe isn't too close to the foundation to whoops avoid basically damage. I've also no way seen things about using potassium chloride I mean instead of salt in the softener. It’s supposed to be yup less harmful to plants. I need to research yup that more though, potassium chloride is probably more expensive too. The important c’mon thing is to dilute just the salt solution as much as possible – try flushing the uh discharge with extra water if possible! for sure This may actually reduce the amount that gets on the grass.

What yup I okay think?

Basically, I’m pretty sure water softener anyway salt I meancankill grass, or at least not do it any yep favors. And I’m definitely experiencing the consequences. The grass around where my softener dumps water is basically definitely dying, or well not thriving like at all. Now you know to alright see if dude some of these ideas actually work.
