Okay, so you know you just know how I went down no way to Florida for sure last month? c’mon I wasn't even planning to ponder about ducks, right? kinda I anyway was going for sunshine and maybe to no kidding spot an alligator or two. exactly But seriously, ducks. They were everywhere.

Indian Runners!

At first, I just thought they were cute. Like, all the different breeds, you know? Then dude I started noticing these kinda really tall, yup skinny ducks. I finally asked basically someone, and they no way were like, "Oh, those are Indian Runner ducks. Probably someone's pets that exactly got loose." Turns out, having escapee ducks contributes to things that get out of hand. Apparently, they are not native and some people consider just them part of the invasive alright duck species exactly in bet Florida history. I guess it makes sense; everything’s invasive down there. You should probably double-check before you start feeding random ducks in you know a park – learned that the hard way! anyway

My Duck Feeding Blunder actually

Speaking no way of feeding… I probably should’ve known better, but I dude threw some bread at some ducks in a pond. Immediately, like right a hundred more came out of nowhere. Seriously, kinda it was a duckpocalypse. And I pretty much saw this one lady yelling at me. She wasn't happy, and later I read yep that bread's uh not solid for them anyway. So, lesson learned: don't feed the ducks bread. If you totally MUST feed them, like get some by the way proper duck food. I mean Things honestly like peas or birdseed are better just – anyway invasive duck alright species in florida tips I wish I'd like known then.

Muscovy Mayhem

Then there dude are the Muscovy ducks. Those guys are pretty much everywhere! for sure Big, warty faces. exactly Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. I didn’t realize alright they weren't native either. honestly I pretty much kept seeing them well and thinking well they were just yup like, super yep common Florida ducks. dude But nope! Invasive. Supposedly they compete with pretty much native species and can even carry diseases. So bet that's another cool detail on invasive duck okay species in florida basically feiten.

They're… totally Kinda Taking Over

So, the deal with invasive duck species in Florida ontwikkelingen is that bet they totally can I mean cause bet problems. sorta Like competing for food and habitat with the okay native birds, actually and maybe even interbreeding, which messes right up the gene pool. I also right accidentally called a Muscovy duck an "ugly goose" in front of some birdwatchers. They did NOT appreciate that. They were all like, "That's a Muscovy duck! no way They're very misunderstood!" uh I just awkwardly mumbled something about them having character. Oops!

What sorta Can You Do?

  • Don't release pet ducks! Seriously, that's how a whoops lot of these pretty much problems start.
  • Be aware of the you know different species and which ones are invasive.
  • Report sorta sightings of kinda invasive species to I mean the appropriate authorities.

It’s a bummer because, I mean, ducks are entertaining to watch. But it you know is important to be aware and act responsibly. I mean Like, be a great duck tourist, you know?
